Professional Training Agreements Western Australia

(Minimum of two years full-time)

A Professional Training Agreement (PTA) is the mechanism to enable a graduate surveyor (with a 4 year Bachelor of Surveying Degree from Curtin University or equivalent) to progress to registration as a licensed surveyor in WA.

The purpose of the PTA is to provide a structured training program to assist a graduate surveyor with the continuation of education and training to develop their skills. This requires a minimum of two years supervised training under the mentorship of a Licensed Surveyor.

As part of the PTA, a graduate surveyor is required to submit five Cadastral Survey Projects covering: Urban, Rural, Built Strata, Mining Tenement, and Site Planning & Management as well as completing the Application of Survey Law Exam and three practical field survey exams. The final stage of the agreement is an hour long interview with the Land Surveyors Licensing Board of Western Australia.

See the Licensing Board’s website for more details.
