Where can I gain experience?

Ever wondered how you can gain relevant experience in land surveying? Well, you’ve come to the right place. There are several ways to gain experience in Australia, including:

Internships or Apprenticeships:

Many land surveying companies in Australia offer internships or apprenticeships to students or new graduates. These programs can provide hands-on experience in surveying techniques and equipment, as well as an opportunity to work alongside experienced surveyors.

Entry-level Positions:

Some land surveying companies may offer entry-level positions, such as surveying assistant or instrument operator. These positions can provide valuable experience in surveying techniques, as well as an opportunity to work with and learn from experienced surveyors.

Graduate Programs:

Some land surveying companies and government agencies in Australia offer graduate programs in surveying. These programs provide formal training and experience in surveying techniques, and may also include opportunities to work on real-world projects.

Volunteering:

Volunteering with a local surveying or mapping organization in Australia can provide opportunities to gain experience in surveying techniques, as well as an opportunity to network with professionals in the field.

Continuing Education:

Many surveying and mapping organizations in Australia offer continuing education courses, workshops, and seminars that can provide additional training and experience in the field.

Personal Projects:

If you have access to surveying equipment, you can gain experience by conducting your own personal surveying projects. For example, you could create a survey of your property or neighbourhood, or conduct a topographic survey of a nearby park or nature reserve.

It is important to note that gaining experience in land surveying in Australia can take time, and may require a combination of these approaches. Additionally, it is important to ensure that any surveying work is conducted in compliance with local regulations and with appropriate safety measures in place.
