Surveying Day at Geelong High School

May 13, 2013Michelle Brooks

Year 10 Geelong High School students were “hands-on” with Surveying technology at our recent Maths in Surveying Day. The aim of the event was to increase the number of students studying higher level Maths at the school by demonstrating an exciting Industry where maths is applied on a daily basis.
Geelong Surveying Day

The event was facilitated by 3 local Surveyors who took small groups of students through surveying tasks including measuring the length of a ball toss, and the height of a statue. Total stations were used in conjunction with paper-based exercises to show how trigonometry is used and integrated with technology.
