In 2009, Surveying SA was formed with representatives from the Surveyors Board of South Australia (SBSA) Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI), Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) and the University of South Australia (UniSA) with the aim of increasing the number of Licensed Surveyors in South Australia and ensuring the continuity of surveying tertiary studies in the State.
The Surveying SA Laptop Grants have been established to assist five commencing UniSA students by providing them with $1,000 to purchase a new laptop.
Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents. In 2011 to be eligible for the grant applicants must be be enrolled full-time in the first year of the Bachelor of Environmental Science degree program and intending to undertake the following spatial science electives as part of their program: Environmental Remote Sensing, Geomatics and Geospatial Exploration.
Applicants must provide a personal written statement detailing their interest in spatial science, their career objectives and how the scholarship will assist in achieving their goals.
Applicants may be given special consideration if they can demonstrate in their written statement: academic merit, financial disadvantage or that they have a rural background. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview.
Recipients of the Surveying SA Laptop Grants will be given preference in future years if they enrol in the Master of Surveying and apply for the Surveying SA Scholarship.
Value: $1,000 to purchase a new laptop.
